The title, which, in Polish, means open or empty, refers to the open strings often used in the piece. There are many references in Pusty to great violin solo repertoire, including Bach's Sonata No.1 in G minor BWV 1001, Berio's Sequenza, Xenakis's Mikka and Michel Finnessy's Enek. The piece is dedicated to Sibbi Bernhardsson, who helped me greatly by commenting on technical aspects of the piece and who performed the piece for the first time.
